Why Formats Make Your Life Easier

If you’re doing social media right then you should be posting at least five times a day.

Trying to come up with five brand new posts every single day is incredibly hard PLUS it has a high chance of leading to burnout.

It’s much easier to create content formats/templates that you can use over and over again with slight adjustments that you know will perform well.

2×2 Format

To use this format, you want to find four similar videos, all the same length (ideally around five seconds long) and play them all at the same time in a 2×2 grid.

This format makes people watch each video independently, causing the video to loop repeatedly which leads to watch times of 400%-800% (if the content is good!).

Pro Tip: Include a long caption in your post to further increase watch time.

“If Only…” Format

To use this format you need to be consistently posting videos that are very niche and very specific.

You then want to add a headline to each video that says “If only there was an account that posted (your niche content)…

Our team wanted to test out this format so we created the page @memeorigination which only shared the original videos of popular memes. In 6 months we grew this page to over 260,000 followers with only 204 posts (1300 new followers per post on average).

Image // Video Format

While we haven’t tested this format yet, we wanted to reveal our next move to you before we make it. We’ve been seeing this format work well for other pages recently and are going to start incorporating it into the content strategies for our own pages.

To use this format, create a Reel with a headline on top, video on the right, and cover photo on the left that remains a still image for the entire video. The cover photo should either be a screenshot of the video or an image related to your video.

Theory: We’re going to try making the cover photo a screenshot from near the end of the video. The idea is that people will at least watch until they’ve identified the cover photo.
